Dr Neil Whitehead (Whitehead Associates, Lower Hutt, New Zealand) collaborated with Professor Ulku Ulusoy of Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey for this work. Both have been interested in earthquake prediction and published books and papers on the subject for more than a decade. Both Turkey and New Zealand are subject to devastating earthquakes from geological fault lines which traverse them. Dr Whitehead worked for several decades with New Zealand DSIR/GNS in this field and also in Japan with Dr Ikeya, Professor of Earth Sciences at Osaka University and author of the book Earthquakes and Animals.

Dr Whitehead is also has also widely  researched and published on Earthquake Light phenomena.  Earthquake Light has received increased scientific attention recently since it has now been widely recorded on security cameras and smartphones during large earthquakes.
